Croatian Nova TV: Undisputed Media Leader in 2024

Nova TV continues to achieve outstanding success, closing 2024 as the top television network in the country. Exceptional results across all programming segments affirm its leadership status, while continuous investment in high-quality content further strengthens viewer trust.

With an average prime-time audience share of 29%, Nova TV outperformed its nearest competitor by an impressive 58%. Across the entire day, the network achieved an average audience share of 21%, while Nova TV Group channels collectively delivered a 40% higher prime-time viewership compared to their closest rival, solidifying their dominant position in the Croatian media landscape.

Doma TV also reinforced its leadership as a specialized channel, achieving 75% higher total-day viewership and 31% greater prime-time viewership than its main competitor, confirming its appeal among entertainment-focused audiences.

NOVA TV NEWS: THE BENCHMARK FOR TRUST AND RELEVANCE

When it comes to credibility, objectivity, accuracy, and timeliness, Nova TV’s news programming remains the viewers’ top choice. In 2024, Dnevnik Nove TV firmly held its position as the most-watched news program, with an average daily audience of nearly 330,000 viewers and a 29% audience share. This represents a 25% advantage over its closest competitor and a 32% edge over the second-ranked rival.

In addition to the flagship Dnevnik, the audience expressed strong trust in the afternoon Vijesti, which achieved a 27% audience share—18% higher than the closest competitor and a remarkable 94% higher than the second. Večernje vijesti rounded out the dominance of Nova TV’s news programming, delivering an impressive 31% audience share throughout the year.

These achievements make Nova TV’s news programming synonymous with trust and professionalism, forming the foundation of the network’s media leadership. By delivering accurate, impartial, and timely content, Nova TV remains at the forefront of the television news landscape, meeting its viewers’ need for reliable information.

VIEWERS TURN TO NOVA TV FOR ENTERTAINMENT

In addition to offering the leading news programming, Nova TV delivers the best in entertainment. A key strength of the network lies in its original productions, which dominate the market, as confirmed by viewership data. Of the top 10 entertainment shows in 2024, five were Nova TV productions.

The most-watched show of the year was Supertalent (Got Talent), with an average of over 560,000 viewers and a 43% audience share. The New Year’s special, I godina Nova 2025., drew an audience of over 551,000 viewers on average, with a remarkable 48% share. The eighth season of Tvoje lice zvuči poznato (Your face sounds familiar) attracted nearly 520,000 viewers, with a 41% share. The debut season of Tko to tamo pjeva? (I can see your voice), a musical competition, captivated audiences with nearly 390,000 viewers per episode and a 33% share. Meanwhile, MasterChef continued to inspire viewers, with an average audience of 315,000 and a 36% share.

Nova TV also leads in serial programming, holding the top five spots for the most-watched series in 2024. At the forefront is Kumovi (Best Men), maintaining its position as the most-watched domestic drama series in Croatia, with nearly half a million viewers and a 37% audience share. Close behind is U dobru i zlu (For Better or For Worse), which debuted in the fall schedule and quickly became a standout hit, drawing over 410,000 viewers on average and a 34% share.
Beyond its domestic productions, Nova TV continues to attract audiences with globally popular Turkish dramas. Titles such as Zlatni kavez (Yalı Çapkını) 360,000 viewers, Oproštajno pismo (Veda Mektubu) 345,000 viewers, and Divlje srce (Yabani) 313,000 viewers add variety and richness to the network’s offerings.

Nova TV also excels in film programming, airing seven of the top ten most-watched films in 2024. The standout was the American action blockbuster The Equalizer 2, which attracted 365,000 viewers with a 32% audience share.

DNEVNIK.hr: CROATIA’S LEADING DIGITAL PORTAL IN 2024

In 2024, DNEVNIK.hr retained its position as the top digital platform in Croatia, with an average of 1,907,434 users and a 5% higher readership than its closest competitor. Specialized portals within the Nova TV portfolio also recorded significant growth. gol.hr achieved a 5% increase in page views and a 10% rise in reach, while punkufer.hr expanded its audience by 8%.

Technology-focused zimo.hr achieved remarkable success with a 17% increase in readership and 21% more page views, outperforming its nearest competitor by an astonishing 339%. Meanwhile, health-focused krenizdravo.hr recorded a 115% higher readership than its main rival, confirming its leadership within its niche.

SOCIAL MEDIA DOMINANCE

Nova TV leads Croatian television networks on social media, generating 700 million video views across all platforms in 2024. TikTok profiles achieved 140 million views—a 22% increase compared to the previous year—while Nova TV’s profile grew by an extraordinary 631%, achieving 9.5 million views.

The drama series U dobru i zlu (For Better or For Worse) amassed 70 million views across all social media platforms, while Kumovi (Best Men) generated 47 million views on Facebook alone—a staggering 487% increase from 2023.

These achievements solidify Nova TV’s position as a media powerhouse, setting benchmarks for excellence across television, digital platforms, and social media, and confirming its unmatched ability to deliver content that resonates with audiences.
