Radovan Seratlić honoured for outstanding television journalism

28th January, 2026

Radovan Seratlić, a journalist at Serbian TV Nova, has been named this year’s winner of the Regional Award for Television Journalism “Gordana Suša”, presented by the Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS) in cooperation with partner organisations from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The “Gordana Suša” Award is given for outstanding achievements in television journalism. The jury said Seratlić’s work consistently demonstrated responsible and uncompromising journalism in line with universal ethical standards and firmly in the public interest — the key criteria guiding the decision.

By following the student cycling “Tour to Strasbourg”, and cycling alongside the students himself, Seratlić reported live throughout the journey, combining on-the-ground reporting with interviews, statements and personal observations. Despite the physical risks involved in reporting while cycling, the jury noted that he succeeded in maintaining objectivity, professionalism and clarity, while adding a new dimension to live television journalism. In its explanation, the jury highlighted Seratlić’s ability to push professional standards to an additional level of originality — “on two wheels”.

During the approximately 1,400-kilometre journey, Seratlić demonstrated that journalistic ethics and professional standards can, and should, remain in the service of the public interest under all circumstances, the jury said, while maintaining a clear but measured editorial stance.

The Regional Award for Television Journalism was established in 2022 by NUNS in cooperation with regional partners and with the support of the Suša family. It honours the legacy of Gordana Suša (1946–2021), one of Serbia’s and former Yugoslavia’s most respected television journalists and president of NUNS from 1999 to 2002, remembered for her professionalism, courage and unwavering commitment to media freedom and human rights.

Previous recipients of the award include Hrvoje Krešić of Nova TV Zagreb, Ivana Dragičević of N1 Croatia, and Maja Nikolić of N1 Serbia.

The award was supported by the Media Diversity Institute (London) and the Institute for Media and Diversity – Western Balkans, with additional support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Belgrade, sculptor Petar Hranueli and designer Andrej Dolinki.
