Celebrating one year of Nova Docu – The home of outstanding documentaries

10th November, 2025

Nova Docu, the premium VOD catalog featuring exceptional documentary content from the region and around the world, marks its first anniversary on November 10th.

Available exclusively on the EON platform across seven countries — Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, and Montenegro — Nova Docu has quickly become one of the most popular catalogs within EON’s offer. In just one year, the platform, which currently features around 80 titles, has recorded an impressive 1.4 million views.

Among the most-watched documentaries are the film about Lionel Messi (135,000 views), the story of the legendary Bulgarian footballer Hristo Stoichkov (110,000), the Serbian phenomenon Biba Struja (55,000), Muhammad Ali (70,000), and the Oscar-winning “20 Days in Mariupol” (60,000). The documentary about the late Serbian rapper Gru attracted 30,000 viewers across the region, while the Slovenian film “Children from Petricek Hill” reached 27,000 views.

By the end of this year, Nova Docu will expand its catalog with several outstanding new titles, including Croatian documentaries “Playing Man” and “Tusta”, the Greek production “The Thin Line”, and international hits such as “Raising a School Shooter” and “The FIFA Family – A Love Story.”

In its first year, Nova Docu also launched a major regional documentary film competition, supporting new voices and projects from the region. The winning script — a film about the legendary Yugoslav band EKV, directed by the award-winning filmmaker Vladimir Tagić — is currently in development with the support of Nova Docu.
