Nevena Madžarević completes Reuters Journalism Fellowship at Oxford
28th March, 2025
Nevena Madžarević, editor and host of the morning program on Nova TV Serbia, has successfully completed the prestigious Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism program at the University of Oxford. She concluded her fellowship with the presentation of her project, “How to adapt traditional TV journalism for new digital formats.”
“Spending the past six months at Oxford has been an incredible privilege. After nearly two decades in daily news journalism, this opportunity allowed me to step back, explore television from a different perspective, and examine its future in the digital age,” said Madžarević.
She emphasized that the transition of traditional television to new video platforms is inevitable. “The sooner we embrace change and adapt, the better prepared we will be for what’s ahead,” she added.
Beyond academic insights, she highlighted the Reuters Fellowship’s unique value in fostering global professional connections. “The exchange of experiences is invaluable—not only in recognizing what we do well but also in identifying areas for improvement. That, ultimately, was the goal of this program: to bring fresh knowledge and energy back to the “Wake Up” newsroom and Nova TV,” Madžarević stated.
Madžarević expressed her gratitude to United Media for recognizing the importance of continuous development and noted her honor in being the first recipient of this fellowship.
United Media is committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning, offering employees the opportunity to further their education at some of the world’s top institutions.
