Matija Petrić wins the golden buzzer and reaches first place on YouTube’s trending list!

Entertaining, exciting, and hilarious acts won over the hearts of the audience during the first audition episode of Croatia’s Got Talent, which was the most-watched show in Croatia across all TV channels last weekend, and the most-watched entertainment TV program in September, ranking just behind the Nations League matches, which were also broadcast on Nova TV. On average, the premiere of the 11th season attracted 460,000 viewers, and the performances of the contestants who broke the ice in the first episode flooded social media, where clips from the show garnered over 800,000 video views in less than 24 hours.

In the first episode, the golden buzzer was awarded to Matija Petrić, a 31-year-old singer from Slavonia, sending him directly to the semi-finals. Matija’s performance, after being broadcast on Nova TV, became a hit on social media, accumulating over 215,000 views and reaching first place on YouTube’s trending list in Croatia! Matija won the admiration of both the jury and the audience by performing a duet “with himself”, demonstrating impressive vocal range in his rendition of the song “Ponoć”, which earned him Fabijan’s golden buzzer. “My man, thank you for this amazing singing,” said Fabijan, while Matija, after receiving the golden buzzer, added: “I don’t even know where I am or who I am anymore. I almost cried, but I managed to hold back.”

In addition to Matija, another contestant who impressed the jury with his singing was Paško Bradarić Šlujo, who describes himself as an old soul in a young body – something he proved with his choice of a Frank Sinatra song, charming the jury and taking them back to a different era. Fearless acrobat Meri Toskić astonished the jury with her agility and high-altitude stunts. “This wasn’t some kind of kids’ performance or a little girl’s act; this was a serious Got Talent performance,” commented Maja. The stage was further ignited by the dancing acrobatics of Anja and Miran, whose love for dancing evolved into love for each other, creating the duo Aerial Harmony. The chemistry between them was palpable throughout the performance, leaving the jury in awe of what their bodies – as if made of rubber – could do. The stage was transformed into a playground for tricks by Eva Obad and her dog Bura. With numerous tricks they had practiced, they delighted the jury and audience, showing that a dog can truly be man’s best friend.

Where there’s an accordion, there’s fun, as demonstrated by Stevan Lakatoš, who wowed and energized everyone in the studio with his legendary covers of “Brick in the Wall” and “Darling.” His covers, as he says – “written as I played, and played as I wrote” – are already known across the region, and after this performance, they will surely become even more famous. Ten-year-old Dominik Đulabić aimed to impress the jury, which he did with an act that included several elements – from tricks and jokes to mimicking car sounds and beatboxing. A major surprise for the audience was the reserved IT specialist Matija Hanževački, who, upon stepping onto the stage, seemed like an ordinary young man – until the spectacle began. It started with him taking off his shirt and continued with him performing aerial silk stunts, hanging from the ceiling in various poses. “I was stunned by the beauty of his talent,” said Martina.

The title of the funniest performance of the evening went to the Japanese contestant Tonikaku, who promised an act the jury had never seen before. He certainly delivered, with a series of ‘naked’ poses, including imitations of Luka Modrić, Nikola Tesla, and Baby Lasagna. “Don’t worry, I’m wearing it,” Tonikaku kept repeating, referring to the fact that he wasn’t completely naked, as he cleverly hid his underwear during the poses, leaving the jury and audience in stitches. Despite shocking the jury and setting Fabijan’s head on fire, the mysterious contestant Miki Dark also secured a spot in the next round with his fiery performance.

The first audition episode of Croatia’s Got Talent ended in laughter, fun, and great spirits. To find out which contestants will be featured in the next eight episodes, stay tuned to Nova TV!
