TV Nova journalist Radovan Seratlić receives award for journalistic courage
6th June, 2025
Radovan Seratlić, journalist and news anchor at TV Nova in Serbia, has been named this year’s recipient of the “Stanislav Staša Marinković” Award, which is presented annually by the editorial board of Danas to mark June 9, the date when the first issue of the newspaper was published in 1997.
According to the jury, Seratlić achieved a remarkable professional accomplishment by serving as a daily correspondent during the students’ cycling tour to Strasbourg.
“Radovan Seratlić accompanied students on a bicycle for the entire 1,400-kilometer journey from Novi Sad to the headquarters of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, providing regular reports to the public in Serbia and the region on this mobile student protest. In doing so, he demonstrated professional passion and journalistic courage. Such a reporting endeavor required tremendous personal bravery and journalistic skill. His live reports from the field were a prime example of genuine journalistic dedication,” stated the jury.
The jury also highlighted Seratlić’s consistent excellence in his regular work as anchor and editor of TV Nova’s news program Dnevnik.
“His commentaries and interviews are always clear, concise, and fact-based. Seratlić carries out his work in a distinctive and unpretentious manner, thereby showing that despite the challenging media landscape in Serbia, the future of professional journalism remains promising,” the jury noted.
The decision to present the award to Radovan Seratlić was made unanimously. This year’s jury consisted of professor Vesna Rakić Vodinelić, Radar journalist Vuk Cvijić (last year’s laureate), Dragana Marinković (representing the family of Staša Marinković), and Danas editorial board members Katarina Živanović, Vladimir Maričić, and Dragoljub Petrović (jury chair).
The jury also gave special recognition to the work of the investigative portal KRIK, the editorial team of Novi Sad’s 021 portal, as well as the reporters and camera crews of N1, who have continued to report on events in Serbia under often difficult conditions – especially since November 1 of last year, when 16 people lost their lives following the collapse of a canopy at the Novi Sad Railway Station.
