United Media Returns to Pula Film Festival: Championing Creativity, Regional Talent, and Original Stories

7th July, 2025

Ahead of the 72nd edition of the Pula Film Festival, United Media has selected six finalists for Make the Scene – Comedy Edition, a regional initiative designed to support the development of original comedy and dramedy television projects.

The finalists—screenwriters and creators from across the region—stood out for the creativity, authenticity, and screen potential of their ideas. They will take part in a workshop programme during the festival and pitch their projects to a three-member jury. The winner will receive a €5,000 development award, while the runner-up will be offered professional mentorship to support the next stage of their work.

Make the Scene – Comedy Edition reflects United Media’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the regional creative industry and developing original, high-quality content.

This year, United Media also sponsors the newly established Golden Arena for Best Regional Film—an award that highlights the company’s dedication to advancing both film and television production in Southeast Europe.

Nataša Buljan, Fiction Development Director at United Media, joins the jury for the Best Regional Film award at this year’s festival and leads the expert team behind the Make the Scene programme.

“This is the second edition of Make the Scene, a programme we see as a space where new ideas can flourish—where bold regional voices meet universal themes and local stories resonate beyond borders. I’m excited by the variety and originality of the projects submitted, and I believe the pitch session will spark inspiration across the creative sector. It’s also a great honour to be part of the jury for the Golden Arena for Best Regional Film. This award boosts the visibility and value of regional cinema, which continues to deliver exceptional talent and work. The Pula Film Festival itself is growing in influence every year, offering a stronger and more diverse programme. We’re proud to be part of its journey,” said Buljan.

The Make the Scene – Comedy Edition pitch finale will take place as part of the festival programme in Pula. Winners will be announced following the presentations.
