Dragan Bjelogrlić’s new movie “Guardians of the Formula” premiered in front of nearly 8,000 spectators at the largest European open film festival in Locarno.

Production houses Cobra Film and United Media stand behind this original project, supported by Euroimages, Creative Europe Media, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the Film Centre Serbia, Film Centre of Montenegro, Slovenian Film Centre, and North Macedonia Film Agency, while the movie distribution is entrusted to the company Art Vista.

Right before the start, the film crew led by the director and French acting stars Alexis Manenti and Anne Serra walked the red carpet. The premiere was also attended by Professor Goran Milašinović, author of the novel “The Case of Vinča”, based on which screenwriter Vuk Ršumović adapted this film story. On the red carpet were young actors Jovan Jovanović, Alisa Radaković, Ognjen Mićović, as well as Maja Čampar.

The premiere of this movie as part of the prestigious Piazza Grande program is also the first time that a Balkan film is shown in the selection of this part of the festival program in Locarno.

“The premiere was a big event, not only for us, the authors of the film, but I think for Serbian cinema in general. For the first time, a movie from our area was shown in front of 8,000 people at the largest outdoor cinema. According to the reactions of the audience, according to how they followed and breathed with the film, I think that with a lot of optimism we can hope that this forgotten story from our, but also sacred history, will find its way to audiences around the world, and I am very happy about that”, said Dragan Bjeloglić after the world premiere.

On the occasion of the world premiere in Locarno, the Film Center of Serbia organized a cocktail party for visitors of the festival at the film square, so that they could get to know the local cinematography and the projects realized thanks to FCS.

After the premiere in Locarno, “Guardians of the Formula” will be screened on August 15 as part of the main program of the 29th Sarajevo Film Festival, and from mid-November we can expect it in cinemas in Serbia and throughout the region.
